< we are all stranger you are alone >에 대하여
< we are all stranger you are alone >은 고독을 말한다.
인간의 내면에 동행하는 이 고독을 사진전시와 라이브 시네마 퍼포먼스의 형태로 풀어 놓는다. 전시되는 사진들은 충남 홍성군 장곡면에 위치한 장곡 저수지를 배경으로, 무수한 시간을 흐르는 자연에 투영되는 인간존재 내면의 심상을 드러내고 있다. 고요한 듯 격렬한 사진들과 함께 보여질 라이브 시네마 퍼포먼스는, 필드 레코딩으로 채집된 소리들(비, 바람, 파도 등)과, 이 소리들로 부터 받은 영감을 토대로 작곡된 음악이 함께 어울려 연주되고, 이 소리들과 맞닿는 정서를 가진 무성 비디오들이 함께 보여진다. 이 전시와 공연을 통하여 시간이 흐르고, 머물고, 다시 부유하는 저수지와 같은 형상인 이 세상에서, 그저 나고 사라질 뿐인 인간, 그 존재가 가지는 고독은 어떤 얼굴인지, 어떤 말을 건네는지. 애초에 있기는 한 것이었는지. 우리들 각자가 묻고, 대답하고, 방황하고, 자유로워지는 경험을 하기를 기대해 본다.
About We are all stranger + You are alone /
We are all stranger + You are alone tells you about solitude.
We are going to reveal how solitude accompanies our inner most thoughts and are a permanent part of our lives through Photo Exhibition and Live cinema performance.
Photos in this exhibition will reveal the inner image of our human existence which is projected on nature infinitely flowing along time.
Along with these calm and vigorous photos, in a live cinema performance, sounds collected from field recordings (like sounds of birds, rain, wind) and music inspired by these sounds mingle and plays together. The silent video clips in the same vein as emotion of music are also screened.
Through this exhibition and a live cinema performance, we throw questions about what is the face of solitude of human existence which is born and just disappears, what solitude is saying to us and is solitude even there in the first place?
We expect each of us to have experiences of asking, answering, wandering and being free in these questions.

사진 & 비디오
김정민우 작가의 ‘고독’을 주제로 한 9점의 사진들과 박순리 작가와 공동작업한 비디오 설치작업이 전시된다.
작가는 고독을 제거하거나 극복해야 하는 대상으로 보지 않는다. 오히려 인간 존재 자체가 가진 본연적인 고독을 인정하고 그것과 동행해야 한다고 말하며,
고독이 부여하는, ‘이방인’으로서의 자각을 통해, 삶을 어떻게 받아들이고 존재할 것인가 물음을 던진다.
전시 타이틀이 주는 냉소적이고 차가운 기운과는 반대로, 고독에 대한 작가의 따뜻한 시선을 만날 수 있으며, 자연이 주는 치유의 상투성에 머물지 않는, 소외되고 낯선 장면들을 통해 , 내면에서 무한히 꿈틀거리며 부유하는 감정들을 만나게 될 것이다.
사진들과 같은 맥락으로, 정지된 듯한 그러나 조용히 시간을 살고 있는 장면들이 사운드 스케이프 음악과 함께 비디오 설치 작업으로 전시될 예정이다.
Photo Exhibition & Video installation /
The exhibits are of 9 photographs which convey solitude by Minwoo Kimjeong and video installation collaboration with Youngim Park and Minwoo Kimjeong
Minwoo Kimjeong doesn’t regard solitude as something to set aside. Instead, he tells us to admit natural solitude of human existence and accompany it. He also asks about how we take our life and exist with this awakening as “Stranger” which solitude gives us.
Contrary to the cold and cynical emotion of the title, you can find something warm in his view about solitude and will have floating emotions stirring infinitely inside, not staying with a cliché like nature’s healing
In the same context of photos, Video installation containing scenes which look still but live in time calmly are also exhibited, with soundscape music.
전시 & 라이브 시네마 퍼포먼스
시골에서 그동안 피상적으로만 알고 있던 로드킬을 직접 맞닥뜨리면서, 죽은 동물들을 수습해 주던 작가는 어느 순간부터 길 위의 그 모습들을 사진으로 남겨두게 되었다.
처음에는 이름 없이 사라지는 것들을 그저 기억하고 싶은 마음에서였다.
그렇게 사진으로 남겼던 존재들의 모습을, 이번 전시에서 작가의 감정을 담은 자연풍경의 사진들과 함께 보여준다. 길 위의 죽음을 보여주는 것은 한순간 감정의 소비를 위해서가 아니라 내면을 파고들 물음을 던지기 위함임을 작가의 작업은 말한다.
라이브 시네마 퍼포먼스는 필드 레코딩으로 채집된 소리로 만들어지 음악과 무성비디오가 어우러지는 오디오 비주얼 퍼포먼스이다.
동물과 인간이 함께 관통하고 있는 고독사라는 주제를 상징적인 의미로 풀어내게 될 것이다.
Live Cinema Performance/
This is an audio-visual performance where soundscape music and silent video clips mingle.
This soundscape music is made by Minnow Kimjeong and he collected sounds for 3 years by field recording and produced music by using these sounds as musical notes, having lived in Dosan Village of Janggok-myeon, Hongseong-gun.
He made minimal music by transforming, expanding and reinterpreting these sounds from field recordings with the inspiration of the sound itself.
His music is not grasped as one meaning or one thing but full of blanks you can look in various ways and feel deeper.
The silent video is made by Youngim Park inspired by Minwoo Kimjeong’s photos and music. She intends to accompany his music as well as throw another stone in the pond of our minds to make waves.
